Solly Moholo to get a posthumous lifetime award.

Thanks to his electrifying mokhukhu gospel sound and high-energy performances that transformed every stage into a celebration of culture, spirituality, and joy, Moholo became a continental favorite during his incredible career that spanned more than two decades and more than fifteen albums.

On October 2, 2024, Moholo died in a hospital. Following his pre-album launch tour in Botswana, he became ill and was admitted to the hospital.

The proud Soshanguve native and lifelong Zion Christian Church (ZCC) member became a cultural trailblazer by fusing township rhythms, the distinctive mokhukhu dance style, the ZCC brass band sound, and potent spiritual storytelling.

His legendary live performances transcended national boundaries and brought generations together. He impacted lives in South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, and other places with this.

Moholo had just as much of an impact off-stage. He mentored numerous artists and was an outspoken anti-crime activist. These include Winnie Mashaba, Bana ba Solly Moholo, Makgarebe a Bochabela, and a pillar of community upliftment motivated by faith.

He had a particularly strong interest in youth. Moholo spoke out against bullying at schools on a regular basis. He promoted kindness, self-assurance, and resiliency through both performance and personal testimony.

One of his passions was advocating for children with disabilities. He affirmed their worth, potential, and sense of belonging while providing emotional support.

”The late Solomon Majafela Molokoane, also known as Solly Moholo, will receive the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award posthumously at the SAMA31 hybrid ceremony on December 14, according to the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA).

Solly Moholo performed more than just gospel music.”. Nhlanhla Sibisi, CEO of RiSA, stated, “He lived it, breathed it, and made an entire nation dance to its truth.”.
